What is a primary election?
A primary election is really a party nomination process — it’s how registered party members choose who will represent their party on the November general election ballot. Think of it as your party’s internal vote: “Who is our best candidate?”
Your participation here is just as important as November — because candidates who don’t make it through the primary won’t appear on the fall ballot at all. This is your chance to shape those choices.
Judge retention votes
Also on your ballot are nonpartisan judge retention votes. These ask a simple question: should this judge continue serving on the bench? You fill in the oval to vote “Yes” to retain the judge. There is no “No” option — the only choices are to mark “Yes” or to leave the oval blank.
We encourage every voter to take a moment beforehand to look up the judges on your ballot — the Idaho Supreme Court and Court of Appeals post judicial opinions and annual reports, and your local county clerk may have additional information.
Also on your ballot — local measures
In addition to party nominations and judge retention, Minidoka County voters will also decide on important local measures:

The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed levy is a tax of $122.74 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions.
